Quality time with friends and family. If this is important to you then a destination wedding could be your answer. How many weddings have you been to when the most time you spent with the wedding couple were a few snatched words of congratulation? Generally for a home town wedding the guest list will be much larger and the bride and groom will have lots of demands on their time and attention. With a destination wedding everyone gets time to spend together, meeting and socialising before, during and after the wedding day. This can work especially well if everyone is staying in the same hotel or resort. Now this is where your travel agent and your eyes on the ground (wedding planner!) come into their own. They will be able to guide you to accommodation that suits your style, requirements and budget. Obviously with a group not everyone has the same budget so your agent and planner can suggest and recommend close by accommodations to suit different budgets but still retain the social aspect for your guests.
Organising tours and activities for your wedding group will also come under the planning umbrella if you choose to hire an independent planner at the destination so that takes all the stress off you. Activities surrounding the wedding can be formal – this is usually more the case with a home wedding or more casual and fun for a destination wedding. You can certainly have a formal wedding and formal events at your destination wedding – its completely up to you. The main thing is that you are relaxed and enjoying it all.
