Sherry & Mike (Piton View)
FEATURED WEDDINGS Sherry & Mike (Piton View Wedding)
Sherry and Mike found Awesome Caribbean Weddings through a Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Specialist based in Ontario, Canada who reached out to us in March 2017 looking for the perfect wedding venue for her clients.
After just a month and several hundred emails, Sherry was ready to book her destination wedding in Saint Lucia for May 28th 2018. Now, this couple turned out to be fun loving and adventurous and they decided that they wanted their whole group to stay at a resort in the north of the island, but to have their ceremony at the Piton View venue in the south of the island.
Not a problem! We reserved the date and venue and worked out the logistics that would serve the group the best. Sherry decided to travel down to the ceremony venue by road with her bridesmaids and photographer early in the morning of their wedding day. Mike and the rest of the guests would also travel by road but a few hours after the ladies had left the resort. After the ceremony, they would travel back up the coast on a spacious 60’ catamaran, enjoying drinks and canapés for their sunset cruise.
In June 2017, Sherry and Mike learned that their tour operator had cancelled their flights and so they were going to have to reschedule their chosen date. Between venue availability, ACW availability, accommodation availability and new flights we were able to settle on Tuesday 3rd April 2018 as the new date.
The day after Sherry and Mike arrived on island Michele went to meet with them and took the hairdresser with her so that Sherry could get her hair trial done. It was a symbolic ceremony so no need for the lawyer to be present, so Michele made sure that all the details had been covered and the couple was happy with all aspects of their wedding day, including the bride’s final hair style chosen from a range of options.
The ladies left the resort at 8.30am and all had their hair and make-up done on site in a day room rented from the venue. This also gave Sherry the opportunity for a sneak peak at the flowers and ceremony décor! The groom and guests all left the resort at 11.00am and on arrival at the venue spent the following half an hour freshening up and getting changed into their wedding attire.
The ceremony was held at 1.30pm under a beautifully decorated wedding arch, the flowers and fabrics all in white and matching the aisle posies and petals down the aisle. The bridesmaids wore a delicate mauve, the bridal bouquet was white peonies and roses while the bridesmaids bouquets, groomsmen’s and family boutonnieres were all white local, tropical flowers.
We had a marquee set up off to the side for shade as it was a super sunny and hot day, and this provided a space for the guitarist and singer that performed for the wedding and to entertain guests afterwards while everyone drank champagne, and the group shots and couple’s portraits were taken.
The next stage of the adventure was waiting! At 3.30pm we started getting the guests off to the dock in Soufriere to board the catamaran while Sherry and Mike changed into their more casual boat clothes. Once ready, they too headed off to join their family and friends on a beautiful catamaran cruise back up the west coast of the island, where canapés, champagne and sodas were served while the sun sank slowly towards the horizon.
On arrival back at Rodney Bay Marina, the group was met by the waiting vehicles to shuttle them back to their resort for their outdoor reception, allowing them time to change into their third wedding outfits of the day!
Sherry and Mike certainly had the wedding of their dreams and it was all beautifully captured by a photographer that they chose to bring down to the island with them, the lovely Sara Monika:
